Hi Everyone,
I was driving from flint today and the ball Joint gave up on me, luckly there doesnt seem to be to much damage will have to chack it out tomorrow.
Annoying the AA to about 4 hours to get the car home for me.
The first guy turned up about 20mins after calling them and saying we carnt put it on the truck without even trying. So he ordered another different truck to come.
About 30min this other truck come out and he gave it a go but he then gave up and orderd a differnt one. This time a guy in a same type of truck as the first one came out he managed to get it on and home for me. But Why couldnt the first guy do it!!
So if ur running on big wheels BEWARE! lol
Also Big Thanks to John For pulling over.

Coooor blimey!!! You were really lucky mate, it could have been worse, at least you ok are'nt you?
As for the mini, looks like you have damaged the sump/gearbox casing aswell? but at least it can be fixed.
Let us all know if you need a hand fixing it?
Regards

Wow really lucky escape m8, glad ur ok tho!
 Wowe.... bet you had to change your knickers after that jules :o , glad to hear you are ok though :).
that's a realy nice sprite you've got there mate...... hope you get it sorted soon.
do you recon it was down to you running wide wheels then .
i saw the same thing happen @ speed on the way down to newque (riviera run) earlyer this year... could have been nasty. the lad had about 10 mini drivers stop to help and he decided to have the aa tow him to newque instead of going back home.... he won spirit of the show award. he had wide wheels also.
i've got sport pack wheels 6-13 and i was thinking about changing them for mini light deep dish 7-13's or ultra lights, coz i heard spot pack wheels are heavy and make for poor handling etc.
is there anything that can be done to prevent wheels falling of.... it's a bit of a worry.
cheers

"they" do say you should only use gen ball joints, and I think its a little common on 13x7???

Remember Mini`s where only designed for 10" ice skate wheels your wheel bearings and ball joints are under massive pressure when useing bigger wheels sticky tyres etc but remember to keep these parts well greased and maintained and you shouldnt have to much trouble:)

Deano is right, and everyone does seem to say that big wheels ruines ball joints and bearing. I will be keeping an eye on them now lol

Hiya Jules, glad to hear you got home ok (Eventually), no worries re stopping to help, its what any mini owner would have done
good luck with the repairs, hope you back on the road soon.

yeh, thats one of the great things about owning a mini....... other mini owners... commoradary + people such as car park attendants tend to come up to me and tell me they used to have a mini and then it's " how long are you going to be"..... "oh you'll be ok".... "no need to pay". :)
cheers
