Just to say Kwik-Fit are doing a mobil 1 oil change with filter for £40.00. Might be of some use for people without classics (that need 20-50).

Most modern engines go long intervals without needing an oil change... I don't like this idea and get it changed early... My work car is 18000 between changes, I have 7000 miles until the next service, but the computer says the oil is at 30%.... I dont want to take the risk and this deal seems very cheap... as the oild would cost about £50-60 depending how much you need (Its about £40 for 4L)..

cool sounds good, modern cars services are well expensive! classics are much cheaper and you can do most of it yourself for under about £40! i do an oil change about every 5000 - 7000 miles depending on how much time i have! :D

the other thing with places like that (not being synical) is they could advertise the best oil at a good price but unless you see them open a new bottle and pour it straight in they could be tipping anything in! i generally only trust what i see after some dodgy services on other cars in the past! :D

I am also a member of www.VxOn.co.uk which is the Vauxhall Owners Network (dont slate it...read on)

For £15 a year membership I also recieved a halfords trade card and a Vx dealer trade card...perhaps the admin/club staff could contact halfords and see why you guys cant get them...A gallon of castrol 10/40 GTD retails at £24.99 and I get it for £16! massive savings to be had for all makes and models, you also get a discount on most other things in the store, batterys and wiper blades are Uber cheap!

Did i mention the discount on tools also ;)

What would BMW say about the filter being changed by a non-franchised agent???

In the past it was a no-no, but the new UK law states that any garage can service you car as long as you have a V.A.T receipt, so you can keep your warranty. The issues arise if the work is not either completed to the Manf standard, or they miss something.

E.G when you have an oil change service (inspection1) they do more than change the oil, like checking condition of things. My SAAB is out of warranty so it doesn't matter, but I was using the service above to change my oil mid service as I don't like the idea of the oil doing 18000 miles.....

You maybe able to ask BMW for the service schedule so you know what boxes they tick... I asked the same for my VRS but went direct to the central customer services dept and sent it on email.....
Best to speak to them first....
