push start button

i have just been lookin in my mates rover 200 and he has fitted a push start ignition button to start. he said you cut the black wire going to the ignition barrel and put the wire from one side of the switch to that and then shave the red and white wire and connect the other wire to that now wud that work on my car as i reali want one.lol. now is the way he told me correct to do it for a mini. wb please

i mite b shoutin for a lil help in a week or so wen i get paid coz i am poo at electrics and wiring sounds simple to wot my mate sed but never can b to carful and mite cut wrong wire knowing my look.lol

its dead simple. u just need bullet connectors and spare wire and most importantly somwher fit it. took me bout 30mins and ive got my ignition on a switch too. so u put the key in (stil keeps the steering lock)flick a switch and then push the button its great fun :D ;)

well i will check the wires out and try and figure it out but i dnt have a clue wot so ever on how to do it. but i think it wud be mint have the start button i think next to the fog light switch.wb

you can have it where eva you want it as long as you got enough wire.

Mines in the center console. looks sweet. il give ya a hand. its not too strenuus on ma bad back.

This was mine in my old escort, had a bit of an inkling how to do it, but was mostly potluck:rolleyes: it worked like moddinmad's, turned the key to take the steering lock off, then flicked the switch and pushed the button to start, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME !!http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/waftycranker/DSCF2115.jpg Good luck with yours.

all dun and sorted started up perfect. and i have wired it up so its duel so if the switch brakes i can use the key. thanks for the diagram ian mate

its a fantastic feelin gettin in your mini and pushin that button wel confuses people because mines in the centre and they dont see me push it.
