Yeah new member Plews here reporting in, cheers for the email inviting me!

A few things about me;

Im a student (although I hate the term) from the mountainous town of Consett in County Durham. I go to Northumbria University, from tomorrow anyway, where Im studying for a degree in geography.

My car is a 1960 Mk1 in cherry red, restored by my brother about 4-5 years ago and continually being worked on my myself. Its my daily and only transport and beleive me I take her everywhere, absolutly everywhere, with me and she never lets me down. Even a collapsed wheel bearing in Penrith didnt stop me making it home. Recent travels have included a day-return trip to St Andrews University in Scotland, a trip to Mt Coniston in the Lake District, a day visit to Blackpool, an emergency "step in at the last minute" trip to Sheffield and back with 5 passengers and myself and three friends on a weeks tour of Scandinavia in August (as you do...)

I found you because some clever person called Dean sent me an email. it the link.

Yeah I try to keep my Mini looking her best and most importantly original but within reason because this is my everyday car!

For example I did have the original brakes but obviously when hurtling down a Scandinavian road loaded with four people, a roof rack of stuff and a weeks worth of luggage the original single shoe drums would be overwhelmed if a moose ran out in front of me! Because of this Ive got the 8.4" discs which require the 12" wheels (Im not rich enough for S brakes...) but they dont look too bad.

Ive also got seatbelts in the front just for safetys sake - theres no point in compromising safety. Same story with the mirrors which are necessary when on a motorwayy and especially abroad (although those ones are still useless, I need some desmos if anyones got any.)

I just try to keep away from the mods that might spoilt it like a HUGE exhaust or roof decals etc. You get the idea. The S grille was my brothers idea, I prefer the early one, but thinking what he paid for it Im not taking it off!

very sensible plews mate and yet very brave. i'd be tempted to keep her tucked up in a nice dry garage over the winter.... away from any mini hating mooses.
