The trouble with all these type filters are that they get all the hot air from the exhaust and what you need is nice cold air which is denser and burns your fuel more but K&N`s are as good as any other cone filter but you might need to change the needle in your carb :)

i have a pipercross cone filter on mine and yeh i rekon it drawing in more hot air than cold so wot i am goin to do is get a cold air feed pipe to the filter so it runs better.

It all depends on the application. People go straight to the supa shiney complete bolt on units too soon in tuning. If the engine is only mildly tuned, go for a element in the original box, use the original pipework and if needed drill a few extra holes in the front edge of the airbox. It may not look as sexy but will be working better. It's only when you the potential to kick out serious horse power when the bolt on units pay off, even then you require a properly designed stub stack installed (can cost nearly as much as the filter) and cool air from the front piping though. In the winter these can cause all sorts of problems, we rarely suffer from Temps to have carb freezing (ok, remote places may well do) but cold/on choke running is bloody awful until it warms up.
