Hey guys, As you may have noticed we have a brand new frontend website with all the details about our lovely club!
What do you think of the new site?

Can I recommend u upgrade your forum software and always keep it upto date as I have had experience of being hacked and loosing lots of effort and hard work.

I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone :(

Hey, good job on the frontpage,

only sugestion i would make is that the line that says

<meta NAME="Description" Content="Miniaddicts.co.uk home page">

Needs to hold all your site keywords aswell as the meta name keywords, most search engines will pick up on the site description before they keywords, also, in the stylesheet, where the code states BODY{MARGIN-LEFT: 0px;MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px;MARGIN-TOP: 0px;MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px;BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url('bg1.png'); BACKGROUND-COLOR: #DCDCDC;}
I'd be tempted to change it to BODY{MARGIN-LEFT: 0px;MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px;MARGIN-TOP: 0px;MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px;BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url('bg1.png'); BACKGROUND-COLOR: #DCDCDC; BACKGROUND-ATTACHMENT: FIXED;}
This will make the miniaddicts background image static so that it doesnt scroll up with the page, other than that, top job, well done :cool:

nice one mate, i'll look into that, how did you get the 'chat' window on the missiles site? is it a program or part of an access/ sql database?
just think its very cool!

Hi,

The chat script we use is a heavily modified free one, it's not linked to any database at all, it's driven by text files, if you check out the vBulletin site, there is actually the same kind of thing available for vBulletin, they call it a shoutbox though, just be sure to download the correct one for the version of vBulletin your using or it can cause untold problems,

The only problem that i found with ours is that it tends to draw people away from posting in the forums, which on a site that is community based can be a problem,

But beside that, if theres anything i can help you with, just let me know an i'd be happy to :)

Thanks for the pointers phantom we were going to set up a chat room but as my brother said th same as you peeps stop posting on the forum but we will be having one once the site gets busier but it will be diffucult to monitor what peeps write on chat to:)

yeah, it's a thought for the future not just at this min!, just thought it looks pretty cool!
the next addition to the website is going to be work on the members car park and disabling 'right clicking' got a program to sort that today!

Monitoring live chat isnt that difficult from a bad word point of view, most of the shout box mods have a bad word filter built in them but the topics of discussion is a different matter,

also, disabling right click is pointless, all it does is add extra code to your pages and make them load slower, it's impossible to stop anybody from extracting images from your pages anyway, once a page is viewed your users already have the image, they just have to know where to look for it,

disable right click is just a gimmic, just my 2 peneth worth again

Thing is, meta tags arnt really used any more, google etc use things what u call spiders, as your prob aware i dont think i need to explain what they are :)

yeah but it was the middle of august! we got tropical storms and lightning! think i would have prefered snow! all the better for playing in! apart from charlie didnt like the wet and alistar had to trailer her in... :(
