engine jerking

what it is i have a mini Neon
1990/91
When I put my foot down the car jerks sometimes but also struggle to move off at times so I have to pull the choke out wondering if anyone could suggest any ideas to help ?



Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?
I have a stage one kit on
Ported and polished head

Hi Nigel 1st thing i would try is is dash pot oil in the carb But it could be all sorts of things Fuel ignition etc

hi myn ust to do that but after changing jet and niddle in carb car was fine hope this helps

Have you just put this stage 1 kit on but using the same manifold/carb/needle if so check if the spark plugs and black & wet. you may have to change Your needle to a leaner needle.
Otherwise i would be also checking your HT leads and I would advise to change the lead from the coil to Dizzy as I have experienced the same recently

... and apart from the tuning aspects, when's the last time you checked the lower engine mounts and steady bar bushes. The issue you have could be 'amplified' if the engine is free to dance about...
