Ill start buy saying hi, i havnt been on here for absolute ages!! But now the time has come for me to have problems with my mini.....

The other day my indicators and break lights stopped working, after checking the fuse's i found that the bottom one (17A continuous 35A Slow blow) had blown... After replacing the fuse all was well... but now in the last day i have blown 2 more of the same fuses... both times leaving me without break lights or indicators. Yesterday the last time i replaced the fuse i got my indicators back but this time still had no break lights... and after going to my local petrol station and back, then lost my indicators again. It would appear to me that the fuse seems to go every time i have my full beams on and either break or indicate... As you can tell, this is a bit of a problem as i cant really drive around with my mini like this. All help will be much appreciated!! Thanks.

With all the rain we have had recently could you have water ingress somewhere?

Sounds like you have a short if you have a Electric testing meter you could test short circuit try any wires that pass thru metal. Most go on the front panel where the bonnet shuts or the alternator has tryed to eat the wiring loom:(

A short is my main suspect and i do have a meter lying around some where, im at work till monday so my lil ol' mini will have to sit and behave herself until then when ill have the time to test all the connections, wires etc. The wires passing through metal is a good idea, i probably wouldnt have thought of that...! Ill try and find the fault monday and let you know how i get on... in the mean while, any other ideas will be much appreciated. :) Thanks.

Under the slam panel (where the bonnet locks down to) there are a number of 'bullet' connectors. Carefully pull these apart, clean up the connections and reconnect.
Similarly, check the bullet connectors under the scuttle that lead to the rear of the car.
Also, check your connections on the fusebox in case wires are breaking down, fraying out and shorting to the body.
