so i took my subframe off yesterday as you can see on my project thread , how ever think it needs replacing so i was thinking about the beam axel conversion as it is the same price and less weight. and i was just wondering if any one had used one ? and where was the best place to get one from and well are they any good ?
i use the alloy beam axle on my mini (from mini spares) i got it for weight reasons but the radius arm brackets which come with it are steel and heavy so i had alloy ones made, also it does push your rear wheels back slightly which might cause a problem if running 13" wheels, i run 12" and they are fine, i don't think the steel beam does this but never fitted one myself, mini magazine feb 2010 has a guide how to convert a subframe into a beam to save money but you still need coil overs, a alloy beam just finished on ebay today no bids was thinking of buying myself for another project but no time at mo. you are welcome to look at mine if needed, hope this helps.
