Hi,

anybody know how to wire up and mount a 12v cigarette lighter socket to an MPI?

Ive heard of connecting it through the radio... and mounting under the dash rail.
All I need is to power a sat nav or a phone charger if possible

Cheers any advice would be great

I have just fitted a three port sat nav adaptor to my mini I took the live and earth feeds of the heater wires as they do not have so far to travel, you could have it linked into the ignition circuit by taking a live off the ignition switch, this way it would come on when you switched the ignition on. I did it my way because I wanted it to be live when the ignition was off, all I used was scotch lock connectors one for the live and the other for the earth screw it to the dash and there you go done, you could fit an in line fuse to the live if you want as a protective device, I got the socket from the pound shop in Llandudno so it was a cheap installation, you have to be wary of cigarette lighter sockets as some of them are not deep enough to accept the plugs from the sat navs, hope this has helped.
