Hi all i thought i would post the ongoing project that is my classic...
Boogie is a 79 Leyland that i bought from a guy in orlando florida that had it imported from the UK...apparently the person who shipped it to the states assured him that all the problems on her would be repaired before ship...but seeing how as the new owner was not mechanically inclined he had no idea what he was looking at...and as long as it ran he didnt care...
after a new clutch slave/fusebox/ignition system/hoses/head gasket/water pump plus a whole host of other gremlins i decided to get her professionally fixed up while i was deployed to the middle east
to give you an idea on what i was dealing with this is what the suspension/brake and subframe area looked like before

here are the rear brakes...they were completely rotted through

And after the calipers had to be rebuilt and cleaned up this is what they look like now

I should be getting pictures of my new gauge set up...it had a smiths tach and a clock but no status guages and the ones that were in there werent wired up and were busted anyways so i swapped it all out for a set of Auto Meter Traditional Chrome guages (Tach/Water Temp/Oil Pressure/Volt)
and here is a run down on work that is going to be done in the next week or 2
Pop out rear windows
Monte Carlo Arches
All new Door/Window/Boot Seals
Locking Gas Cap
Oil Cooler
Engine Repaint(Orig 998 yellow)
Lightweight flywheel
Removable blub headlights
thermal insulation
surface rust clean up
HiLo's
alot of this stuff i already purchased its just now its getting installed because when i get back i plan to go on a road trip to one of the best roads in the US which is US Hwy 129 Deals Gap aka Tail of the Dragon...every april/may there is a weekend gathering of mini/MINI owners there....its in its 8th year and projected to have almost 500 MINI/Minis...then from there ill be driving home to see my friends and family then back to florida...all told it will be about a 2600 mile road trip
