New Mini Question

Hope this is the right section,

As I posted in my introduction i'm looking to buy a cooper S in the early part of next year, I know they changed them in 2004 to have slightly more power but is there a way of telling (apart from the Reg) the newer models as I don't wanna buy an 04 plate to then find out it's the less powerfull model, also dose anyone else know what other changes they made to them?

rear lights are the way of telling.the origonal ones had the reverse lights in the bumper and the "facelift" ones had the fog lights in the bumper

Brilliant that is a great help, I knew there had to be something like that to tell them apart.
My missus has only driven a KA and don't think she'll be able to handle a Works no matter how many times i've told her it will only go fast when you put your foot down. Ah well when we get it as far as she's concered it's going for a 'service' which will be a stage 1 tune lol been quoted £500 to take it up to 195 bhp

i'm training to be an electrician in the new year so toying with the idea of getting a classic mini too but we'll see

Old shpe supercharged & new ones turbo`d the new ones are alot bigger too.

The lights are different side indicators are very different front end on the new one has one piece grill instead of the split in the middle :)

Ah I was on about the changes they made in 2004 when they gave it 7 extra bhp (it all helps lol) not whenthey changed it to a turbo, why did they do that dose anyone know?

As far as I'm aware the mark 2 became available on an 07 plate, I have a 57 cooper S, the exhaust is different too, it appears to be a bigger box. I'm sure every panel was slightly changed although it's hard to tell. The lights are the obvious difference.
