Started going pear shaped on saturday, all the indicators packed up including the hazards ..... so that kicked into touch the flasher unit being knackered.
Sunday the ignition, and oil light packed up working the car had to be bump started, sunday night we had to bump start then when we put the lights on she just died and as never run since. I've put the battery on charge but still nothing.
Any ideas?

Yeah thats the first thing that i checked, then checked the battery which was charged but the battery is only a few weeks old anyway. Also checked for continuity for broken wire just after the indicators stopped working.

I'm glad you said that deano, the altenator was my thought but i don't know how to check if its knackered or not?
I was intending to change it soon for a 70amp when i put a stereo in it and some other bits and bobs. But would the altenator stop the indicator and hazard lights from working first etc?
Thanks for the replies.

I have had the flasher relay`s fuse together when batt is flat.
The best way to check an altenator is with a multi meter checking the charging rate with engine on the off

Not quite sure what you mean here?
I've put my multimeter probes across the battery +/- terminals in dc mode got a reading of 12vdc, with the ignition on and off. That to me means its charged yeah?
Where do the probes go to check the altenator itself.
I've also ordered a new 70amp altenator this morning so it should be here in the next day or two. Is there a way of testing the flasher units? Apart from swapping them around of course.

Hi guy's just an update for you, bloody flue has had me in bed for the past few days.
Right i've changed the altenator to a 70amp one which never did anything but i wanted to get one anyway, I've also cleaned up the earth from the battery to the boot and greased using molycote again this has not done anything and again the engine to chassis earth lead. The engine will now start if i use jump leads though and the lights come on now for around 5mins then go out again also the indicators will still not work. Any ideas??
