well orginaly i was going to put the Cooper S Motor in but it will just take to long and to costly at the moment to do. Then one of my Mini Freinds was selling a complete Ex Moke 998 motor. To try and get Marcia on the road just that much quicker I purchased it and have now started to clean it up.
As it was a running Motor I thought I'd do a floor start, Never done it before but must say what a load of fun and when its got no exhaust and out in the open of a Garage its dam loud 8)

Here it is as it came to me

Now as I have a bit of time I can't just put it in now can I, I have to tart it up and do it a bit more justice. I'm not going to give away whats going to happen to it but this is after 3 hours work today.

It should look OK,...... once it has another one colour coat on!:)
If you are gonna clean it all up as you have on the clutch housing maybe you coat it with clear laquer? That would look something!

Will lacquer withstand the temperatures:confused:

BTW How do you get such a smooth finish?

Ill be using a clear coat which I have been told will withstand 300c..So we'll see. Also not to sure if it will Yellow or not also. but if you like its a test for the Cooper S motor when it gets built. Smooth finish well its not at the moment on the Clutch housing as thier are a lot of imperfections which i'm not sure how far ill trouble myself with it being perfectly Bling but it will be better than the normal

I got 2 hours in today and you can see a casting mark I have filed down. Once close to the surface I started to 120grit wet and dry down further.
You can also see when Bling how ruff the castings are and I'd say previous owners wheelding the spanners also.
Trust me I'm not going to do the entire clutch housing just the top and front on this one but the one for the other motor is getting the complett treatment and is already 1/2 done.
While I'm doing the housing of a night time I will be starting on a HS4 also

Yes as expressed earlier Peanut will have clear coat on the front for the Bling factor. It's a bit of a test for the next motor. Ill be using Por15s Glisten with a few touches of polish here and thier. Engine bay will be Gloss Black polished. back of the engine will be be black why bother bliging that
Its all wire wheel only hasn't been clean off and and have only touched on the rear for the moment. I asked Owen what he thought "Not Clean yet the top is still dirty" which I'm not worried about this head as a 202 tickled will go on instead, which will also get the same treatment.

Well heres the finished product. No the Dellorto 48 & inlet manifold will not put on it..but more of a Joke to a few on another forum, it will be getting a 1 1/2 SU as per above. Colour I didn't want colour Red, Black and Green I thought had been to many times. This is Clear Coated or Polished. Time will tell if the clear coat yellows but this is a test for the next motor which will be a 1275 motor

Luckily or unfortintly the wifes daily has spun a bearing we believe so it will be going into hers before into mine

Bit Differant

Well all good things don't go as its planed
On Wednesday my wife could hear a not so normal knock. On getting it back home its was a inconstant knock at idle and while driving with also a lacking in power.

We Dr Mini & I opened it all up this morning and found we have two parts of a crank. Looks like it been crack for a small time and then just let go

We were going to just put the my motor in but we have found another crank and will slot that one in. I will also replace the double row timming chain, harmonic balancer, Oil pump and change the diff from 3.4 to a 3.6

well it been some time and many a thing has happened in my life but its all steady at the moment so I thought I would give you a bit of a Update and few pics aswell.

On; about Marcia. well I had her ready in Feb and she did not pass Blue Slip the first time due to not having Front Bumper Bars so I fabricated a pair of L brackets from the Grill buttons to the bumper and he was happy (2nd time happy) I was surprised he did not look further.

I'v been driving around for a while and HT lead to the Coil went and I replaced that then the coil went so replaced that but I'v also had issued with the clutch. Clutch has been on the floor and I also had clutch shudder. Well I did a Burnout or 2 and the shudder has now gone and changed the Master Cylinder and after 3 days the clutch is much better now. Tomorrow I'm off to get the suspension perfect an also its fathers day this weekend so Owen & I will be going to the Historic racing so its a matter of catching up with a few friends and watching them race around Eastern Creek
Heres a few more pic's of what I'm up to and already done.
i'll be better with my updates from now on
