hi all, please help!!! i have a 69 mk2 mini,i have fitted a lightweight rear subframe, which is basically a bar which bolts to existing subframe mounts and holds the swinging arms, i have fitted gaz coil over shocks to this set up with 7x13 minilites. the problem is the drivers side only, when i hit a bump but not all bumps i get a severe knocking noise from the subframe/coilovers. this doesnt happen on all bumps,it seems it only happens on bumps that as well as forcing the wheel up into the arch, also pushes the wheel slightly left or right, head on bumps it works fine and quietly. i have checked all bolts etc and everything is tight wih no play in any bushes, bearings.
could this possibly be a worn radius arm pin? could it possibly be the spring fully closing and knocking on itself?. i have adjusted the height to ensure its not hitting on arch. it doesnt ever seem to happen on the passenger side rear wheel. any info or ideas will be greatly recieved, many thanks, sam
p.s i run my tyre pressures at 40 psi,is this the correct pressure for 175/50/13`s?

Hi radius arm pins do make a knocking sound if lose or worn.

the shock shouldnt really bottom out unless your jumping your mini in the air ?

40 psi is way to much personally i wouldnt have more then 32psi no less than 28psi

coilover`s do tend to knock if the bushed at the top are to tight or to loose as the shock pin where is goes thru the body bang the body.

hope this helps

Cheers Deano

cheers deano, first of all il try lowering the pressures to around 30psi,then maybe il pack loads of grease into radius arm and spin up the road, see if that temporarily helps, failing that i guess il just live with the knocking noise hahahha
thanks again mate your help is much appreciated
