1988 mini mayfair help please

it just started to make this hissing noise that sounds like its coming from neer the air filter. and some greasy stuff started to leak from the heater box and it was really hot..
any ideas please. also the temp guage only moves over the blue bit at the bottom :(

sorry also sometimes when i turn the car off the engine kinda feels like its trying to start again like juddering a few times is this normal?

Hi welcome the forum

It sounds like your vacume advance pipe has come off it's the small pipe that goes from the distributor to the carb if you put that back on it will stop hissing& trying to run on.

The black goo is probly comeing from engine breather check it hasn't split or come off.

Yes any mini parts supplier will have them the minispares etc
