new engine project

hi peeps,

here's little introduction as to what i'm up to. had my mini for about 2 years now and the engine developed a fault about 2 months ago. had dreamed of fitting a bigger engine for a while but never thought i would so i took my old faulty engine as a sign and made the leap and decided to push forward and make my dream come true by replacing the old engine with a bigger one. i am currently part way through this project. everyone i know at work keeps asking me how its going when they see me. its always obvious what i've been up to as the black greasy looking hands are a bit of a giveaway. so i thought i'd join a forum and let other mini owners know about my progress too. anyway waffled for long enough here are a few picks so far will post more as and when :)

Sounds like its going to be interesting, doesn't seem to be showing the pics for me though, what size are you going from/to and are you doing anything extra to the new engine? :)

having trouble uploading will get some pics on by tomorrow, am very new to all this so bare with me.

i'm going from the standard 1 litre to a 1.3, again never done it before but i'm getting stuck in and am really enjoying it.

old engine has been removed from my mini and i am currently in the process of cleaning up all the bits ready for building up the new one, i also have alot of work to do on the wiring as whoever had it before me has really messed it up and it looks alot like spaghetti junction at the minute.

Its something i was looking at doing in a couple years, since the engine ( a 1 litre) has done so little mileage im going to stick with it for now and just change the engine over, rather than buying a new mini and start messing about with cleaning it up again, however fun it truly is :D are you looking to do anything else to the engine? (cam, rockers, head, carbs etc etc) or just sticking with the standard 1.3?

the one i managed to get hold of has been bored which takes it from 12.5 to 13.4. should be nippy enough for me when its done :)
