Hi, Im having a problem with the alternator on Lou ever since I put the new engine in.

At first I thought it was me and my bad memory since I forgot to put the engine earth back in. But now all the wires seem to be in the correct place and they match @lex's Mpi but the engine is running off the battery and the Battery light on the dash is on all the time.

I have checked the alternater and there is power going out of it, a machanic who lives down the road seens to think there is a wire on the starter that should go to the alternater, but @lex's car is the same as mine, and as far as I know there are only two wire's that connect to the alternator.

 Any suggestions?

Thanks.:D

there are three wires connected to mine but then I don't have an mpi. One of mine goes to the live before the starter solenoid (Big fat wire) to improve the charging circuit. cant help you with the rest as I have a Lucas voltage stabiliser and you defo wont have one of them :)

Ok, so I have just had a root around double checkin the wiring/earths etc, and when I started the car the ignition light went off, as it should, but the starter stuck in, so I turned the engine off and started it again and the light stayed on but the starter disengaged?

That say's wiring fault on the starter to me, but I cant find one?

Help! Any suggestions?
