need a little help PLEASE

hello peeps
this is my 1st posting on here and i hope someone out there can help us :confused: i have a f reg mini mayfair that my husband is pimping up for me,
he has got me a fibre glass flip front and has already removed the bonnet wings etc and we want to know is it possible or possibility that you can get differnet size A panels???
the flip front dosnt meet the A panals its about 2" to short each side??
This would really really help us as i cannot wait to get gert on the road where she belongs!!!

Hello mini Gert and welcome to miniaddicts all the a panals are the same size usually the flip fronts are too big and need cutting back to fit:( somtimes the inner wings can stop the front from fitting back hope you can get it to fit let us know how you get on.

hi deano thanks for the info my hubby says the flipfront dont look like its been cut but it is 2nd hand and it is to short do you think theres any chance you could make some to fit?
or have i been ripped off the bloke said the front had never been used!!
im gona cry now :(

what stops the front from going all the way back or is it stuck agianst the engine:( its hard to tell without seeing it .

well as i said he cut off the wings etc.... and when you line the top of the flipront up to where the window washer things are , its lined up perfect but there 2" gap from where the wheel arches end on the flip front to the A panels, it is hard to explain and i am a woman lol :eek: .
Hubby says 12 months before i can wizz around in gert :mad:

your right deano it will be worth the wait its outside the house at the mo with no front end which is making the neighbours a bit mad :mad: but the tax is out in August so its going in the garage, its bright orange at the mo (and not the best paint jobs) so still unsure of the colour which is doing my head in as i cannot decide, sorry for moaning on im just happy ive found somewere i can chat about my beloved gert :D :D :D

hi thanks for the nice welcome errmm not sure on the make to be honest how would i know? it looks like a city / mayfair front if that makes sence to you or is there some thing i should be looking for?

Welcome to the forum. As Deano says its hard to tell without seeing the motor, any chance of a foto? miniaddicts are having a stand at mini in the park on 20th August, just 'down the road' why not pop down to see us? Do introduce yourselves and bring a foto if you can't post on the forum.

Mini in the Park is on Cornbury Park in Oxfordshire on Sunday 20th August. We are hopefully having a club stand there so we shouldn't be too hard to spot! Especially if John wears his clown suite again!!! Welcome to the forum. Hope you get some useful information. And yes im still waiting for my open classic to be done!! Tonyelf (my dad) has jumped in and is having all his welding done first. :rolleyes:

I use Photobucket, www.photobucket.com put them in there then just copy the img to the page.

thanks for putting the pics on for me :) as far as i know it wasnt a van ive checked the log book and it was from 1st reg a silver standard mini mayfair :confused: just out of interest what makes you say bout it being a van?

Mate of mine had a van with a flip front and the one he had was too big and he had to trim it down to size.

Hello mean looking front :D but it does look like it has been chopped down :( as the fronts have a L shaped lip like the wings have to meet up with the A panel (see bottom left of pic has return lip) the mini it came off must have been a space frame or custom front you could extend it with some fibre glass but i would try and find another flip front hope you get there in the end cheers

Hi, just thought i'd add my 2 peneth worth,

now that the front end has been cut off, you may find that fitting a new steel front would be just as expensive as buying a new flip front, give Custom Mini's (http://www.customminis.co.uk/id46.html) a shout, they produce the best fitting fiberglass products by far and are quite resonabe too :)
