Right just a update on the Mini.
As Graham said in the Video section of the forum. We have now finished Megajolting the mini by doing this we now have full control of the ignition system. We are hopefully able to get the most out of the engine, as we able to monitor the engine on the move.

The winter works to the mini also involve the following.

Replace of the manifold with a stainless steel manifold with a lamba sensor take off. The reason for the lamba sensor take off is so we will be able to fit a air to fuel gauge in the near future . This will let us monitor the fuel delivery to see how rich or lean the engine. When the gauge is fitted again we should be able to the most out of the fuel side of the engine.

Replacement of wheels with new alloy Cooper S wheels in fitting these wheels I have now had to fit some group 6 arches to cover the wheels. The group 6 arches are the same design as the group 2 only wider.
I have bonded a sensor to one of the wheels to pick up the MPH on the new digital dash. And rewired the works dash board with the help from Graham (thanks)

Removed the rear subframe and replaced the panels to where old subframe fixed to. Also we have replaced both sills at the same time.

Recondition both radius arms with new pins etc. Replaced all the rear brakes with new and fitted some SC quadrants and stainless steel brake lines.

Fitted a alloy beam axle with coilovers to both front and rear. This should let me set the suspension to how I would like the car to drive. The car now sits appox 40mm lower than before.

looks and sounds fantastic mate.

like the detailing on the rear.

40mm lower, have you thought of fitting a shovel to the front for the evil that is, speed bumps…. I have.

or maybe a set of wings would be a better idea.

Report on the Mini.

As I said I would write a report on the test drive on the car.

Yesterday I went down to the unit cleaned the car and then thought I would take the mini out for a drive. After about a mile the car started to behave strange. When you required more power the revs would just drop of to 0 revs.

First I thought that I may off had the wrong map in the Megajolt.
So I went home in the mini to get my laptop, when I connected the laptop the laptop started to play up and would connect to the megajolt.

So rang Graham to see if he knows why the laptop would not connect. He said call over to ours and we reinstall the drivers on the laptop.

So I drive to Grahams not able to demand power.
Both I and Graham played around with the laptop and car, which made no alteration to the revs at all.

As Graham was going out, I drive the car back to the unit.

I double checked the wiring to the megajolt etc. Replaced the edois unit and the sensor and the coil pack, all made no difference the revs would still just shut off and go to 0 revs for about 2 seconds giving you no power.
At this stage I started to get a little fed up.

When the phone started to ring and a voice said, A&B had the same problem with my mini, they spent hours trying to get to the bottom off it. I have just remembered it’s the spark plugs. I said but why would that; just shut the revs off, the voice on the phone said pass. So I cleaned the spark plugs and closed the gap (the spark plug where brand new). Turned the key and fired the engine up. A big smile on my face again :D as all was great again.

After doing some surfing on the internet , it turns out that a lot of people have been having problems with brand new NGK spark plugs and it turns out that I should be running RS Cosworth plugs.:D

Back to the test drive.

Engine

The pull out of the engine was great and put a big smile on my face, the megajolt and the map which we installed was great. The engine was very smooth throughout the rev range.

Coilovers

I had spent a lot of time setting the suspension up on the car, and was pleased to find the ride very firm but not to firm that it thrown you in the air when you hit a bump.

Around the corners, as there is now very little body roll I as now able to take the corners a lot faster.

I then thought I would test it in a straight line, so drive down the bypass at varies speeds and able to remove my hands and it stayed in a straight line. Even at 95mph.

Digital Dash.

I plugged the old satnav in to test the Speedo on the digital dash, and was pleased to find that it was only 2mph out against the satnav.

Brakes

After rebuilding all the brake lines, and full new brakes to the rear. The brakes felt great and made a big difference to the stopping power.

I covered over 60 miles on the test drive with a big smile on my face at the end of it.:D :D

Plugs can cause all sorts of problems especially resisted ones eg NGK-R`s.

Have also known problems with big boost runnning forced induction motors to blow the spark out ! can t get my head round how you can blow a spark out but you can.

some cars wont even run without iridium plugs & ht leads as fat as me thumb:)

Glad you got it sorted must be nice to have the smooth useable power.
