wondering if any one can help me?
my cars just aquired a missfire / hesertation though only during light acceleration, hard accelleration and deacceleration runs normaly, vacume is fine,
im thinking it could be caused by a worn timeing chain???
as im un-sure of if its ever been replaced...
the spark plugs, ht leads, rotor, and dissy cap are all new though points are worn
also i have slight run on when switching off..
best plan of action???
many thanks

Sounds like a air leak on your manifold or a fuel problem.
Could do with a few more details does it happen when the choke is pulled out.
Spray some wd40 on to the manifold gasket and see if the revs go higher.

Have you got oil in your dashpot ?

amm yes it dose it with the choke out as well..
as for the dash pot theres oil in it just over the bottom line on the dip stick...
i think its quiet strange as it only dose it at about half throttle..
i have a vacume gauge on it and that dosent seem to flutter when it happens eather,
im going to fit a new timing chain points and condencer as i all ready have them...
a few months ago i descoverd that the vacume ignition advance tube had perrished witch has been re-newd also..
would the k&n bolt on filter have some effect possibly? im going to check for air leaks 2 moro..
the wd40 idea sounds great!
hope that helps a bit more, i just hope i get it sorted for the w to l run!
ill keep u guys up-dated
many thanks!

Have you had the car setup with the K&N? ou will need the needle re-profiled with more free flowing air...

You need to check the oil in the dash pot on the carbs undo the top and check for oil in there. Try some 3in1 oil as it will let the needle lift a little quicker.
You do not need to change your timing chain, just set your timing with a timing gun. And check your points etc.
The wd40 will only tell you if you have a leak on your manifold.
Want size is your engine is it a 998.
If you are still having problems you could bring it over for me to have a look at.

Keep standard air filter ive allways had trouble with the type that bolt straight to the carb.
