well after smashing the 50 BHP mark with the 998 I was thinking it would be good to have a crack at the magic 100 bhp with a 1275???

I have got my hands on an old late 60's 1275 A series with the all important remote box.

Steve and I collected it in my daily drive we have to take the head off to get it in the boot.. boy was is sooted-up. after starting to strip it down it had seen much better days, the valves had loads of movement in the guides, some of the valves were chipped at on the stems where the rockers meet.

Steve had a 12G295 he has donated... so I stripped it and re-ground the valves. the exhausts were recessed so A&B came to the rescue and re-cut them. The guides were a good fit with hardly any movement, the springs had seen better days so I have got a set of double springs. I rebuilt the head and give it a lick of BMC green engine paint.. (Ok so I might be loosing some horses to red so I kept it on the inside...)

I need to measure the CC in the head so I can check the engines CR I need to run about 8.8:1
took some pics...

the block seems fine. It needs a new water pump and I'm going to change the clutch but it seems ok I have turned it by hand

I think you missed a bit of green paint on those plugs mate, not completely covered yet

Are they valves or are they dominoes?

Lol i think you should try hit a harder bhp more like 150 atw:)

I will leave that to you mate... I have seen an SC12 smaller pulley available from AUS about 12 psi... thats got our name all over it.

If you can't hit 150 bhp at least try and throw a double six, sorry a double four its only a four cylinder

competition for me then?? who get's the most HP?

If I'd have known, you could have bought my 1380 pre A+. Kent 286 cam, balanced crank and rods, close ration remote change GT box etc etc

will be good to see however I'm going a bit conservative like I did with the 998 to hopefully keep some reliability and keep the costs down...

We will have to see:confused:

Looking Good
So is that 100hp@wheels or the flywheel both will be achievable:D
Easiest way to up the boost is to increase the crank pulley size just copy what you have but make it a larger diameter say 107mm for around 12 psi on a 1275 but if the engine is over bored you will have to make it larger.

well at the fly... the wheels might be a bit harder.

On another note Ben I have noticed that there is an AUS seller on ebay selling new wheels and clutches for the SC12.. not that I'm looking for more boost..:D

Ive Noticed them too Pulley Bros i think there called:confused:

I'm going for at least 100 horses at the wheels :D

The head I'm going to be using has valves the size of my hand! Well not quite, but they're big.

The pulley on my charger doesn't quite sit straight, so I need to have a look at that. It might mean a visit to pulley bro's for me too..

got a couple of hours in the garage tonight... a mini addicts woolly hat comes in very handy in this heat or the lack of it.

stripped the clutch off very easy to do with the engine out of the car and using that cheap impact wrench I got from Argos...

started to de-grease the engine needs a bit more but getting there... used a steamer in the garage very funny in the cold weather you cant see a thing.

measured the CR...

23.5CC in the head.
16CC in the bores inc the ringlands and from the piston to the top of the bores.
allowing for 2.7cc in the gasket

should be about 8.56:1 perfect..

I'll bet I'm not that lucky....
