Can anyone tell me what the difference is between 1.3:1,1.5:1 and 1.7:1 and what the advantages to each one are? Its to go on my project car if i cant get hold of a Vtec.

the roller tips have a roller bearing that contacts the top of the valve and very visible
The full rollers have the above and also a roller bearing where the rocker pivots on the rocker shaft.
The 1.3 1.5 and 1.7 are the ratio of the rockers. standard are about 1.25:1 if you can get a original non worn set. Therefore as the ratio's are higher they open the valve more.
Its like going up a cam size in simple terms. however as with all power mods they have to match your engine. So too much is as bad as too little.

for a 1275 engine as far as i know its standard, what would be the best ones to get along with a new cam? if i wanted it to be fast off the line but have quite abit of top speed still?

It would depend on what cam you are puting in i wouldnt go anymore than 1.5 on a road car
I prefer soild rockers in a 1.5 ratio & its true that after 60.000 miles or so they do wear the valve guide`s but they dont have any extra componants to fail Eg roller`s falling off which ive seen happen a few times & can cause alot more damage than worn guide`s

you can get the ones Deano's talking about from AVONBAR. I think they are a little cheaper. jonspeed also do some too every now and again..

ive heard from a few people that the minispeed cams are quite good. have the same profile as the swifttune one and are nearly half the price.
