How can I find year of engine

Can anyone help I have mini cooper and the engine as been changed to get it through m o t I need year of engine it is a single point and the engine number is 12A2EF77293446 any one know how I can find this information. Many thanks.

then i guess the 293446 would be the actual serial number?

The car use to have a cat converter how do i get it through MOT without one..vosa says I need year of engine to work out emmisions what do I do I love my mini but I am not very mechanical who can I take it to or ask to get back driving.Vosa says they can overide vsi and create manual record but the garage I went to didnt understand does anyone.Thanks for answering my other question when you said 293446 would be number can I find a year from that.

what year is the car??
if its 1992 im sure was the "change over" year and you can get awy with not having one

Tell them its what ever year that they want it to be? if its a single point it should have a cat on it most mini`s from late on K reg had cats fitted:)

my minis 1993/94 ish and originally had a cat fitted i think but it was removed before i got the car! (good riddens!) when i went for my MOT the computer says it should have a cat, i told the guy it didn't have one and he manually over-rode the system to give it a Cat-less figure (about 3.0 CO2). i'd try a different garage! as long as your emissions are below the stated levels for the year/car your car should pass, even if it physically hasn't got a CAT fitted!

What garage did you go to I will go there I just want it sorted the garage I went to said they had to have proof in writing of year hence my problem.thanks for trying to help me I was getting really worried.

I know about overide but they want year of the oldest part of car to enter this is engine I dont know year hence problem is their no record anywhere of serial numbers because I have also been told they need it in writing.Am I the only one to have this problem thanks for other replies please try with this one lynn.
