Works started on the mini this week. Removed the panels and we found alot of rust to the inside of the a panels / posts for the doors. having to rebuild both sides of the posts.

It is only when you start to remove the outer panels you can see wot is behind.

What a nightmare bet you are gutted mate, it is right what you say about once you start to remove stuff..

Would have never have thought that was hiding underneath.

It just one of them things, just glad the rest is in good order. Just think the body looked in really good order too, excluding the a panels.

Give it a week or so and it will all be looking like brand new. Still its not bad for a 40 year old car.

Indeed, that is how we all have to look at these things.

Mini's are older than most of us!!! (apart from Tony!!!!) LOl

 not bad at all if thats all you need to do! my project's only 19 years old and was in much worse state than that! i got down as far as you have just by pulling the panels! no tools! it'd had a 'new front end' and the previous owner had stuck it on with Chemical metal or aryldite or something else like that!

Thought a colour change would make me feel like I was having something new. I did a bit of homework on colours and black was by special order only.

Right I have just finished fitting the new fuel pump and then fired the mini up. It drove very well indeed. I have managed to get rid of the splutter from the weber below 2000 revs, it may have been that the su pump could not give the weber the correct psi.
