hi i currently own a 998 mini city e and ive been doing it up but im after some more power! do you recomend fitting a stage 3 kit and do you know where i can get one at a good price ? also is there a good insurance company for modified minis? im only 17 so insurnce is pretty import
anyway any advice would be appreciated

Wot do you mean by a stage 3 kit. Do you mean new cylinder head etc etc. Or do you mean stage 1 kit. If you mean stage 1, I would say do not buy a cheap kit from many of the companies about. Because power will be rubbish. Many 998 do not run great on a so called stage 1 kit that any companies have for sale.

Stage 3 +17 + insurance dont go together. I might be cheaper to swap the engine for a 1275???

On the 998 a route you can get stage 1 kits from most of the mini suppliers that include air filter manifold exhaust, new needle, inlet manifold and exhaust, you should see a good power gain from those mods... you can put an head on later..

The best ways to get it setup is a RR session

well im realy after stage 2 or 3 as i already have an air filter and sports exhaust. insurance shouldnt be to much of an issue as its only 129 quid at the moment ! thanks for the advise and more opinions would be welccome.

You will need a stage 1 before you can move on.. some people call a stage 2 a stage 1 kit + a head (norm a large valve / ported )

The best to get it setup on a Rolling Road as if not you wont get the best out of the mods. RR will cost between 80-130 ish.

Somerford are renowned for a great stage 1 kit, they use a maniflow exhaust. give them a call they have always been great on the phone with me

well i have the stage 1 kit on already so i think i need stage 3 but then get it sorted on a rolling road! is it worth me putting in a standard 1275 instead or should i modifiy my 998?

Cheaper to go for a 1275.
