Got to sort the cobwebs out tomorrow!
By the way the colour is blue! I'm thinking shall I paint same as Elf ie Florentine blue with old English white roof ? or is that too boring?
No doubt I'll get some comments about that!

Started it up today, forgot to check if it had an exhaust,it did but the silencer box wasn't speaking to the pipe! LOL when it started we though Michael Shumaker was coming round the corner. Phil and Sean (phils mechanic mate) said it sounded sweet so I'm happy on that count. Clutch is stuck
(whats the trick to free that?) so can't select gears.
Next job is to give the subframes a close examination. The cobwebs can wait (will keep Sian away for sure! LOL)
Watch this space!:D

Deano thinks mini van grey (Yukon Grey?) bit boring? can;t make my mind up.
As for a name, since no one has come up with a suitable one I think I'll go for Robbie. Dvla are taking a long time with the V5. anyone had any probs getting theirs after buying a car? How long should I have to wait? Been over three weeks now

Lucky is my middle name LOL does need a lot of work tho' but I'm hoping I can find the time this winter. Was talking to a guy at Sandon Hall with a yellow van for sale ( £4500) he has fiitted a 1275 engine out of an open classic which is what I've got lined up for mine! coincidence!? Existing 850 engine started for me but had to switch off as exhaust wasn,t talking to the silencer. there appears to be a problem getting 2nd and 4th gear so I've condemned it!

TONYELF

I'm afraid not. I've been a bit reluctant to spend any time on it 'til I get the V5c (Which came yesterday) all I've done so far is clean it , to see what colour it is ! (it's blue initially but most of it's primer grey)Tomorrow the seats are coming out and straight to the tip. If I get the chance I'll start cutting the cancer out after which I don't think there'll be much van left ! LOL Actually ,on the surface it looks pretty sound but we'll have to see.
Anyway I'll try and keep the restoration on forum for all to see but I really want finish the Elf off so I can get it re-sprayed. Good luck in your search for a van.Want me to keep a look out for one for you?

Folks may have noticed my signature has changed. Robbie the van has had some nuts removed. He/She has been christened by Ladyelf as Myvanwy (My Van wy) She is convalescing quite well after having some cancer removed from her bottom ! She is not looking too good at the moment, still more to be cut away. Waiting for some cash to buy some new panels so I will know just how far I can cut back.

Don't touch that paint. The patina is worth a fortune - not to mention the tales that go along with it.

Hello M8, good to see you back. Where have you been?

I have removed couple of nuts and re-named the van Myvanwy !! ( Jill's suggestion so there you have it.)
Progress is ziltch. I have only removed the seats (crap anyway) and cut out the drivers footwell and outer offside cill.
Have now decided to concentrate on the Elf and try and get him finished first.
I can't afford to do the two at the same time anyway. The van may need a complete floor replacement (the underfloor, not the load bay floor,) so I will be seeking more experienced members opinion before I start again.

And thanks for all the Miniaddicts apparel. The safety vest will be a great idea for those of us directing traffic during Mini Meet East. Love to see some Miniaddicts there.

How about putting together a collage of of your events, records, and member cars in the form of a poster that I could print up and display at Mini Meet East next July?

The Springfield is now our permanent home and is an exellent venue for us. It's the next Main juNction on from the usual, about 3 or 4 miles (in about as many minutes!) We have the main room which would accomodate about 250 people! The car park is about 6 times as big as the Red Lion. 1st meeting here saw 19 minis (old and new) our new record. Have you booked your place on the Wirral 2 Llandudno run yet? If not ,try and do it soon,It's agood day out. I'm hoping to have the Elf resprayed soon but doubt I'll have it ready for this run but who knows?:)

Thanks for that Gr4h4m. I like the single door actually @£140 as against £140 each for the single doors! The presents doors are pretty good.I will have to see how they spray up. ELF is top priority now, just waiting for weather to warm up a bit and start rubbing down again for respray.

Ever since Phil drove Paul's minivan to Mini Meet East last year he has been pushing me to start on Myvanwy so here goes.
The other week. front subframe removed with engine (waiting for Eric to collect)
Last night the rear doors, tank and subframe came off pretty easy. Just one bolt refused to budge so out came the cutting disc.
Rear doors, tank and subframe seem ok. The backplates to the rear drums just don't exist:eek:

Yes you guessed right! the rear support bar is a T&G board G cramped to the rear opening, the front is a piece of ply bolted through the speedo cowling
fixing holes and it works. Thanks to Sven who has lent me the spit (it worked for him on his van!) The support frames he fabricated from some old DIY scaffolding frames.:)

Not much progress todate folks. Just generally scraping underseal off and removed the full rear valence and corner valences to get better idea of what need replacing. Beat out a dent on the rear door step. and cut the remainder of the roof off Minty (to make it lighter for moving about) Was about to take doors off next but cills are about to collapse so may leave them on for now.
Drivers door not in bad condition. Anyone want it? (complete with glass.but no winder handle) N/S absolutley knackered!
