Hello,

My name's Damien, I'm in France and I have several Minis and I'm actually restoring a Mini based three-wheeler. This kit-car is named Mosquito. It was then sold under the name of Triad.

Maybe some of you know those cars. If you have any info to give me, I'm very interested.

If you want to have a look at what is a Mosquito, visit my website dedicated to those kit-cars: www.mosquito-triad.com

I also have some others Minis, like an Austin Cooper MkI 998cc. I also have a Countryman MkII and 2 Minis 1000 MkIII. Unfortunately, those 4 cars are unrestored and need some work.

For a long time, my daily driver was a Mini Racing Green. I still have it and it's in good condition.

Welcome to the Forum! We do have another French National on the forum (Minico) We will certainly look out for the copy of mini world. Have you tried the magazine themselves to see if you can obtain a back copy? Might be worth trying.
You sound like a miniaddict already with that little fleet of yours! Our members would like to see a photograph or two of them. Can you oblige?:)

Hi Damien and welcome to the forum. The Triad was made in Malvern where i live. I use to work with the guy that produced themand in fact helped him move all the moulds and jigsout of his workshop and over to a farm where he actually dumped them as far as i know they are still there! There was a sort of roadster top manufactured for them to turm them into a single seater which looked very smart. I haven't seen one for a while now i think he sold about 18 kits. Hope this is of some interest to you and good luck with your Triad they did perform very well as i remember.
Cheers lester:cool:

Thank you very much for your message. As I said in my previous messages, I'm very interested in everything concerning Mosquitos and Triads.
As far as I knew, Malvern Autocraft sold about 10 Triads but if you say that they sold 18 kits, it's very interesting.
I've been in touch with Ian Browse, who was one of the 3 guys of Malvern Autocraft but he doesn't reply to my emails so I don't have many informations from him. Maybe the guy you know is Ian Browse.
Do you know if he would be interested in selling moulds? Do you have pictures of Mosquitos or Triads? Do you know someone who has one?

Can you send me your email address? (meregrand2003@yahoo.fr)

Thanks again;)

A little news of my Mosquito...

The left hand side door was completely destroyed. It has just been repaired. The job done on this door is just perfect! It's been repaired by a mate.

I'm also working on the passenger area. I want to make a red leather belt around the passenger area. It's not easy to explain in English but I'm sure you'll understand with pictures. ;)

The trailer should be finished and delivered next week. I can't wait to have it in the garage!

I'm very happy, I've just finished the first part of the new dashboard of my Mosquito.

I make the same than the original one, in fiber glass, but this one is in machined alloy. Instruments will be fitted as in classic Minis.
I've fitted the chrome ring to add a "Mini touch" ;)

You might wonder why the dashboard is black... It's just a black plastic fitted to protect the panel. I don't want to remove it as long as the dashboard isn't finished.

I've sent the same post on all forums I'm member of, and regarding answers, it's "fifty / fifty". As far as I'm concerned, I have no idea of which one is the best.

I think that in a first time I won't put the red leather on it, and once the car finished, I'll see if I keep it this way or if I put the red leather on...

My wife prefers without... :D

Glad you got a sense of humour Damien. May I compliment you on your command of English. It is impeccable if I may say so. I wish I could speak French but with being partially deaf I find listening to some English people talking quite hard ,never mind the French!
A good friend of mine loves France and has a time share in a boat (an Ex-Shell tanker now converted) at the moment it is moored on the Yon in Sens) he is determined to teach me and to a degree has succeeded with quite a few words but at 61 years of age I think it's a little bit too late!
By the way the dashboard is definately better without the leather. I like your wife's taste!!!

As far as I'm concerned, I've learnt English at school and then, a few ears ago, I went to England for a bit more than one year. I used to work there as a barman, and I also worked in an estate agency. I miss England now. What a great country for cars! :)

It's quite a long time since I've post messages on the forum! I've worked a little on my Mosquito.

Last Monday, I've worked on the single wheel trailer...

Have a look at the pics...

The rear suspension is hidden in the chassis. I still have some welding to do and some finishes but it'll be done soon.

Regarding the Mosquito history, no more news at the moment. The red Triad Sport is quite often on eBay.de... I don't think it has changed hand but the owner is decided to sell it.

I've drilled holes for rear lights and the suspension has been modified. The shock absorber has changed and is now outside the chassis. The first solution wasn't effective at all :D

Rear lights would have look nicer if fitted lower but because of the shock absorber, it wasn't possible...

I've also removed the spare wheel as it was not very beautiful.

Hello,

It's a long time since I've left a message here...

I've just finished my new website dedicated to those rare Mini-based three-wheelers: Trimins, Mosquitos and Triads.

www.mosquito-triad.com

When I've created this website 2 and a half years ago, I had knowledge of approximately 9 cars. Today, thanks to a lot of visitors, I've found out 21 cars over a total production of 24 or 25 cars! Some of those cars are now in Australia, Germany or even South Africa!

I'm still looking for the last few missing cars and for any information regarding those cars.

Please, have a look and maybe you'll recognize a car or could give me some interesting informations.

Regarding my Mosquito, the restoration is not finished yet but I've done some work since the last pictures left here. You'll find the pictures on the restoration page of my website.

Thank you very much for your help and enjoy the visit.

Damien
