Hello my name is david , from Coventy Midlands TEl 01455 840623 EVE

I would like to get in touch with very capable mini mechanics who could help
me and my father get our 69 mk 2 cooper back on the road.

we are 70 % through a mini shell rebuild and my uncle who was
doing the welding , and rebuild is now terminally ill with cancer ,
and can no longer help in any way.

Were in a catch 22 because the mini is hanging from strap stupports in
mid air , and we need to finish some body and welding work until we
can re fit the rear sub frame unit and put the car back on its 4 wheels
Please contact me if you can offer any help with this project, the car has been in our family for well over 25 years and we would love to see it back on the road again . please e-mail me on davebrown911@fsmail.net THANKS DAVID

Hi Dave .Welcome to the forum, as you can see we are based in Chester and North Wales which is rather far for us to be able to help you out. By all means, pick our brains on technical bits when you've managed to get the big stuff sorted.
In the mean time,I would suggest you try and contact a local mini club.
As Deano has said we would love to be able to help.
Hope your uncle's health gets better. and good luck with your project

If it's any help to you, Mini mag is running a monthly article on "How to weld" (started in last months mag which you should be able to pick up in the shops now before they replace it with Junes issue) It's pretty easy but practice on some sample bits first with similar material to the replacement panels.
If you have missed last months issue you can purchase it direct from the mag.
Good luck and try and keep us posted.:)

Hey Tony i'm intrigued, what is the spare shell and how bad?
l Lester:)

The shell has no vin plate,no subframes,is completely stripped. The scuttle panel is shot at and came free with a open classic (buy one get one free. LOL!) The chap we bought the classic open off asked us to take it away. I didn't want it but Dean did and I am just minding it until he decides what to do with it. Generally it seems to be quite sound (aren't they all !) I'll bear you in mind should he change his mind at a later date if you are still interested then.OK?:)
Ps I guess and hope you can help the lad with his welding.
