Hi, i hope someone can help. I have a great 1994 mini cooper 1.3i. The last year though she has had problems starting. Noone seems to be able to fix the problem. I've had 2 new batteries put in. She runs fine for about a week, then problems start again. I've had to jump start her to get her running - which she does like a dream, - but when the engine stops, the same thing happens again. Just wont start! If anyone has ideas, please get back to me! Thanks

Does your interior light work?
I know its a funny question to ask, but I had the same problem on my 93 Sprite. The int light had a fault in it but was switched to the on position and hence drained the battery a lot.
Best person to email would be Deano. (Check out Members List and email him from there)

Good luck

Hard to tell without seeing the car:confused: but sounds like your alternator has gone. You need to check how its charging. A new battery would work for a bit but if it isn't charging it will go flat.
Cheers Dean:)

If you can get a someone with a multimeter as deano says to check the alternator. Engine on, lights on full beam, heater on and hold 1500rpm and you should measure 13.8 volts dc on the battery terminals. Good alternator!
If not then TCM has a point.
Need to get voltage drain checked drop me a PM can help!

Spot on herman another quick way is to put everything on at night. Heater, rear screen, full beam etc. Then from tick over rev the engine and see if the lights go brighter if they dont its not charging!:)
