hi sorry i missed the meeting on wednesday, working. was a route discussed for the journey down to mini in the park?

still starting from halfords in chester? wot sort of time do we think?

do you usually do the A roads or is it straight onto the M6?

is there a few older mins going? the buggy will sit at 70mph all day but it gets a bit boring when you sit on the motorway with no one to talk to ( not that anyone could here you talking anyway):p .

anyway, sorry for all the questions but "no-one expects the spanish inquisition!"

was a mini once
09-08-2007, 07:44 PM
the main web site for the event says the gates open at 7am for traders and clubs to setup. it's about 170 - 180 miles to santa pod from north wales. in a bmw you can blast down the motorways so you could prob do it in three hours. set your alarm for 3am, give your self time for a shower and bacon sandwich. lol

have any of you ever paid for camping and tickets on the gate? I'm kinda worried that I'll get all the way down there and told to go away coz there's no room at the inn.

hi got my ticket in post today. letter came with it says " camping.- if you have booked camping tickets these are enclosed. if you haven't camping is available onsite on saturday from 12 noon. £5 per adult". i read this as you can pay when you arrive.

when you speak to the people on the fone, it sounds like the site is massive. i have managed to get a club stand for me and a couple of my friends with freestyle buggies. i only foned on monday and they said no worries they'll just mark another section off " shed loads of space" she said.

has anyone looked on the main site for mitp. i've been to every one bar one ( baby was born). every year i have got a t-shirt. this year looked into it - £15-25. yes you design your own but wot a rip off. part of going to the IMM and mitp is that you get the t-shirt for that year to add to your collection. this year even if i paid the £25 it wouldn't be the same as wot everyone else had because there are so many choices on the site as to how you design it. - this is the first time that i think i will not bother.

has anyone any thoughts on the event being held at santa pod? couple of my kitcar friends have been to shows there, not all of them have nice things to say. i know one of the concourse ( had ale cannot spell) judges and his advice is to head for the toilets and showers that are adjacent the organisers tent as these are the cleanest. thought this is something that is worth sharing.

that said still very much looking forward to the event as didn't get to imm this year. keep praying every day for no rain.:D

Well for once I was ahead of things....

The carbs were rebuilt and I finished them last night at about 12:30. Thinking I had got a head start... how wrong, just to keep John happy...:D

Went out to the garage this morning to get some tools for the bathroom and the car had lost all of its hydro fluid, and was sat on its wheel arches. I jacked it up and put it on axle stands, went in side to smash things up and finish some \work in the house.... had a look in the Haynes + the workshop, text Deano, and Steve went back outside had a look and the front displacer on the drivers side was leaking... (maybe it wasn't built for my frame?? when I got the spare engine from our Snowdon mini friends Geraint threw in the old displacer units off of the car...

Thanks to Super Star Steve and is magic spanners, we got it swapped this afternoon... Took it for a spin and all seems well, Fingers Crossed.:o

A Big Thanks to Steve for helping me out...

Hey guys! I shall be there on the ECMC stand, but I will definitely come over and say hi. I haven't seen anyone for so long! In fact I will bring someone (possibly a few) over who's interested in the Fiesta brake conversion. You guys should have a sneak peek at our stand on Sunday too because we have a big surprise for the Mini scene.... hehe. It will be good to see all the faces I haven't seen since Bingley I think!

Also I'll be camping too so I'll try and find you and have a drink with you. Is anyone braving the RWYB on the Saturday? (not the Sunday Mini only one)

If anyone's got info about track action on the Sunday too it'd be handy, I know the price, but no-one can tell me if I will be able to drive the car from the stand to the track and then back onto the stand while the show is on. Obviously there will be walking around so I imagine Health&Safety would have a field day.

now i know you don't all hav topless cars, but i don't think enough of you are helping me will the rain away for the weekend:mad:

every liitle helps

examples

all sneezes should be done out side, direction - north

if you must break wind - again, do it outside towards north

we must blow the rain clouds north. i have just emailed E-ON and asked them if they could turn all those big fans off the north wales coast towards the north as well. this could really help, they must be strong enough to blow rain clouds. - still waiting on a reply from them at moment but sure they will come through ;)

if non of the above works over next few days, i will be rounding up all my local friends. the plan is to climb Tan yr gopa ( a local hill/mountain) and have a group staring session at the clouds. i have some rough looking mates who would stare most people down. this should put the wind up those rain clouds and move them on.

so everyone take on the above suggestions and try your own ideas. just do wot you can. rain is not acceptable. it always flippin rains when i go to mini in the park. - but not this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gr4H4m
16-08-2007, 09:45 PM
well I have dismatled the front suspension again as the top arm joint had come out of the displacer and ridden rough shod all over the displacer end... after trying last night to get it back in the hole I took everything apart to find out damage meant that it wouldn't go back in... some filing to take the bur away nd the joints would mate again...;) only to find out that the replacement displacer pipe had ballooned as was ready for bursting... so after swapping loads of bits between the displacer's I think I might have a working one??

I have put everything back together and will wait for the wheels to return before I can re-pressurise the system. I'm hoping that will keep the joints together as at full travel I can pull them apart with out the fluid in the system.

In future I'm going to just do all jobs twice as this seems to be the theme

going to be tight to have the car ready for Sat morning.....

Deano will text you if it all goes pete-tong so you know if we are coming..

The carbs seem really good, much better that the other set. took ages of rubbing down to get everything flush but it looks like it was worth it... maybe get it to A&B in a couple of months.

great thanks guys.... The hydro connection is leaking but it never gave me any trouble over the weekend so some good luck..... at last will now have the time to sort.. welll after the decorating..

best mo was the driving in the mud... the 6 sec 1/4 mile in the drag car... and the 10 sec RS turbo mini.. the run was good fun, the car felt great with those bump stops more go-kart like... and the seat was top I could do it all over again... that Bike engine mini part must have given me at least 2bhp....

Next year will have to challenge Mavis on the strip...:D

me and rkid went to this as well, kippped over on the sat night in the family area (cos we both took our daughters), that was fun, queens' bohemian rhapsody being blasted out by what must have been the loudest mini i have ever heard at 3 in the morning, and half the campsite singing along to it as well !!:D

then the next day, the mini wouldn't start:mad: so a bunch of campers at the side came over with a can of UB40 and got us going (thanx lads!!)

Had a wander round the site for a few hours, bumped into a couple of members near the car photo stall and then headed home to watch city destroy united :D

good weekend all over (except the weather !!)

Finally got to sleep last night at 8.30 ZONKED! Thanks to everyone who came. :) Id like to do the riviera run next year if anyone fancies it.

Think the winter warmer is more of a Reunion for everyone who went down the May before. Doesn't mean we cant all pile in a caravan and get drunk tho :)
