I seen this on another mini forum i venture on and thought i would put it up on here sounds ace

Hi people got my name down for this and wondered if any one else is intrested???
28th March - Guinness World Record attempt for the longest MINI convoy


Guniness World Record attempt for the longest MINI convoy !!

195 is the magic number,well it is for the longest MINI convoy ever recorded.
And this MINI2ers is the world record we want you to help us smash on the evening of
Wednesday 28th March 2007,when we don our big red honkers(that's noses to me & you) all in the aid of Comic Relief !

The current record is held by a MINI club in Vancouver but here at Derek Woodman MINI in Blackpool we reckon we can do far better ! We've been in touch and have the rules from the Guinnes World Records so it's all legit !
We're hoping each car taking part will donate a minimum of £5 so that we can raise over a £1000 for Comic Relief !

Just had an email off derek woodman dealership and ill put it up here

Meeting at our dealership off junction 4 M55, wed 28th march between 6.30 pm and 7.45 pm...leaving at 8pm sharp....then back to dealership to celebrate..

Ill be there if my green meanie is back on the road with an MOT by then, there isnt much hope of it right now but im going to try even if i my poor wee car will be looking a little bad it will be good to take part.

I know Derek Woodman BMW well, visit there a lot for work (i fix their computers) its recently moved to a brand new site just off Junction 4 of the M55 just turn left off the roundabout and you cant miss it.

Just realised ill still have 2 days on my MOT so as long as the brakes are done i should be able to get there, maybe see some of you there. Look out for the tatty green mini with the silver bonnet, no front bumper and bare 12" steel wheels ;)

If you are meeting the Blackpool lot at Tesco we'll be at the recycling centre at the top of the carpark. Where we met up for the Blackpool Illumination Run?

If your stuck here are some directions for Tesco:-

If you go down the M55 towards Blackpool, turn off at junction 3, and you come to a roundabout.

Turn off at the 3rd exit towards Blackpool and you come to a set of lights, with a petrol station on the right.

Turn left at the lights and go straight on until you see Tesco on the left hand side.

And we'll be there next to the recycling centre in the far top of the car park.

We''l be there for 6pm till 6.45pm, if you have any problems on getting there you can phone me on 07709528323 and i'll give you more assisstance if you need it.

P.S. If you miss junction 3. you should come to another roundabout turn right there, and go straight on until you come to another roundabout, turn right again, and you should see tesco on your left hand side.

In the info pack that they sent me they say there is a Large B&Q over the road from Derek Woodman's, So if you want to come up and just give your support (and ogle other Mini's) you could park on B&Q and walk over for a look! ;) Also it say's that after the attempt there will be music and food inside Derek Woodman's, and they will announce weather we have broken the record attempt! So if you want to come up i don't think it will be a problem.:D

The last record was 195 in Vancover, Canada, so i reckon that there will be 250+:D

Yeah there is a travel lodge opposite B&Q that does grub and drink if you get bored, or there is a nice chippy down the road, that I know off.

Alison has sent me another e-mail asking me if i want to go on the reserve list as nos 15,16 & 17. (Me, Phil and Kaye in that order) the Police have limited her to so many. Thats the reason for the list closing. Miserable sods.! Anyway I've accepted that, and told her we would probably be going as spectators .she will be contact (I hope !) I can leave as early as 4:30 but if we get a few of us from chester/north wales area then we could meet up somewhere and do a convoy up to blackpool.

I was thinking about meeting up at the tudor rose pub just after 5pm or sainsburys on the M53, depending which way everybody is going.

post up on here what everyone is doing and what time is going to be best to leave.

It says on the AA site it will take 1 hour 23 minutes so if we leave at 5.30pm then we should get there by 7pm ready to start at 8pm.

Tony if its ok if i bring membership money with me can you bring 2 XL miniaddicts t-shirts with you so i can fly the flag please?

Just done another route from lymm services on RAC website and it takes approx 1 hour from there so if we all meet up there between 5:30 and 6pm we should get there in plenty of time I hope

The roads will be chocca! My brother travels that way a lot and says to add at least 30 mins to every trip or more during rush hour. I will be leaving at about 4:30, then if there's no traffic no problem!:D

Don't forget . The drivers(only) have to be there for7.30 for the Briefing. If you are not there, you don't get a sticker for the car. No sticker, no run. simple as that.
Me thinks if anyone thinks they are running late they should concentrate on getting there rather than on meeting up to travel in convoy

Passengers can come it says only the drivers can attend the briefing in the showroom, by the manager and a copper from blackpool nick.

It says on the letter i got when the drivers do have the briefing the passengers have got to go back to the cars ready for the green light.

Its says on the letter. Quote

"These records are for the greatest number of vehicles of the same make/marque starting and completing a parade route. All vehicles must carry the same name badge (e.g. Ford, Rolls Royce, Volkswagon); it is not sufficient for the vehicles merely to be produced by the same parent company. It is not possible for GWR (guinness World Records) to list separate records for every modelof every car produced (or even for the many vehicles that are consided "ironic" for whatever reason). For this reason for specific models of car will NOT be considered (e.g. Largest parade of VW Golfs)."

269!!!:D I had a very good nite, and was pleased to meet some of the other mini addicts and put some face's to name's.:) I hope to have proper introductions to all of you at the next meeting.:D

Well me and dave had to leave before the record was announced because we had an appoitment with a load of girls and a hot-tub.

So I was falling asleep in the hot-tub,

My mate who wasn't in the run he got stuck in his Asda van as we all came out of that road, he was gutted he couldn't be in his Mini.

During the run my electrics went, I had no brake lights, heater, indicators and wipers. So I made dave (the passenger) get out the car and put the wire to the 3rd fuse back in along the A583. LOL
He weren't happy.:D

Did any-one see the dent in the side of the Mini-van that was there, I think I showed Deano!! But I had a tear in my eye it was that bad!!!.

Lol, i dont think so, as the rust had set in on the door, although the mini's rust fast i don't think it happens that quickly! I was parked opposite the van and the green pickup so i got a good look at them and some photos, which i will post as soon as possible.

What it was, a woman reversed into him (not on the run), I got the dent on my camera so ill upload it later for you all to see.

The guy that had the green pick-up bought it for £3000, off a guy round the corner from where I live, and he used to own that van before he sold it.
