My head's spinning,,,, just ordered the allspeed vauxhall small block subframe of Matt at 16V minishop, then looked at what I thought was a 100BHP 1.6 cavalier engine,,,, but the parkers guide only rates it at 90bhp and the 1.8 at 112 BHP. I want to fit it in a std roundnose with a good size rad. When I look at the Astra 1991 - 1998 it shows the 1.6i as 71 BHP to 98BHP and the 18 sport at 115BHP with the 16v 1.8 at 125 BHP.
Does anyone know why theres such a difference and has anyone actually put one on a rolling road for accurate performance figures as I can get 75BHP out of an A series.(I know its doent have 5 speed or injection and rebuild at 100 thou)
Cheers Miles

I ws reading I think in the 16vminiclub that they 8v engines are restricted by the manifolds, as they were too close to the 16v lumps so Vauxhall restricted them with the manifolds. Have a read...
