Nice one good to hear it wasnt terminal :) Thats the trouble with a classic car you either need to be able to pay to keep them in tip top condition or do it yourself.

After a few jobs that ive struggled with in the past i wish i had sent it somewhere to be done.

Ive noticed it allways feels good when you get a big job like that done because you know its sound now

Cheers Deano

Thats the mistake alot of Mini owners make the get it sorted spend alot of money on it then sell it:confused: becuase of the money it costs to keep it going. But usually when you spend alot of money on them and get the major welding done it can last for years.

But can understand mate ive done the same myself. But allways gives your dad a chance to say "whats the point in spending all that money and selling it " in true dad style lol

Hi Olly .Don't get despondant about it. Did the garage who did the welding say get rid? As Dean said before. It's easy to spend a fortune out on our minis and think it's a drain on the pocket but I think you will find the same with all cars as they're not made to last are they? Manufacturers spend millions trying to convince us mortals that they are working in our interests LOL
Now you've had the work done, it should be sound and I think you will be hard pushed to find another in the same condition as yours without having to fork out ££££££££££££££££££££££s
Better the devil you know and all that.Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

sounds like good advice to me. :)
my mate has just had to pay over a grand to have his pug estate car sorted (clutch problem).... and it's due a service soon, that's going to cost lots more than a mini service.....the parts for a modern car cost lots more and lets face it, the fun factor of dirving the iconic british design is priceless.
