1963 MK I Austin Mini 998cc - £1000

I have owned this car since September 1984 and have a genuine reason for sale. The purchase of the car will include all parts and spares I have accumulated over the last 25 years. This car will make a good project for someone who has the time. I have the bonnet and boot badges.

It is taxed / insured and tested until 15th June 2007.

It has always been garaged, and I stored it whilst working away for a number of years. I originally bought it with a 1275 GT in it but replaced it after about 5 years.

There is nothing unusual about it, although it has a few mod cons like electric washers and hazard lights. It has a wooden dashboard and the seats are the rare folding ones.

In early 2001 it had a complete mechanical overhaul. I purchased a donor mini that took quite a while to find. I have the papers. The engine was transplanted and the car stripped to its bar minimum, including removing the sub frames. The front sub frame was OK, a new one was put in the rear. Everything that was required was purchased or replaced. I had a lot of spares that my dad had accumulated since the 1960’s. I have all the receipts for anything new.

Since 2001 I have done a few minor repairs, the only thing of note for the MOT in 2005 was the inner wings.

My intention was to give it a coat of paint, but I am not going to have the time. It runs well and has never let me down. I do minimal mileage mostly in the summer.

If I were going to paint this car I would do the following -
Replace both A Panels.
Replace the hinges on both doors. The doors themselves are fine.
Replace the boot skin

The majority of the spares are listed below –

Webber DCOE 40 Carburettor with manifold, and trumpets
Complete rebuilt head off original 1275, skimmed / Mk I heater / Roof lining / radiators / soundproofing / 3 into 1 exhaust manifold / door seals, front and rear screens, rear side windows, front & rear seats, bonnet, boot, all 1982 / roof bars / fly wheel and cover / clutch plates / trims / chrome wheel nut covers / wheel centre caps / 4 x indicators lenses / Mk 3 rear lights / fuel pump / headlights and grille covers / complete hubs and back plates / 2 x 10” rims / 4 x white 8 spoke 10” rims with 165/70 Firestone wide ovals / 2 x original Austin rocker box’s / coils / spare SU carbs (not complete) / starter motors / alternators / cabling / wiring /switches / brakes - cylinders/parts / drive shaft / washer motor and mechanism / ball joints / shims / distributors / a large box of bits / mirrors / nuts bolts and smaller parts.

I will be sorry to see it go although the wife won’t. I will answer any questions and email any photo’s anyone wants. It has new V5C.
