I'm no expert but it sounds like the clutch isn't moving enough, if there's no fluid loss it could be air in the system, have you felt the clutch pedal to see if its wet?

if its wet the seal could have gone in the master cylinder and you wont be moving enough fluid to move the clutch... on the other end of the master cylinder is the slave cylinder these sometimes get stuck from corrosion in the bore. mine was and it didn't move the clutch arm properly so I had to replace the slave cylinder.

mmmm. I'm not sure then, one of our more clever members should be able to help. Maybe an internal clutch problem??? pressure plate???

Hello mate good news is that it starts (last time that happened to me my flywheel had come off) it could be a few things would Start with slave cylinder etc
then the clutch adjustment
Then the thrust bearing and if everything is ok there whip the clutch out for the price off them its worth changing it once its stripped down.
Hope you find the problem mate seems strange its just stopped working
Cheers Deano

Every time iv had those symptoms its always turned out to be the clutch plate bein worn. Normally its the case especially if you can get it in gear when it ain't runnin. Hope this helps :)

A Double jointed rist is handy but if you have fingers like half a pound of sausages like me its tricky

You need to get the engine mounting off to lift the cover plate off & couple of them bolts seem impossible to get at but lots of patience and they will come out:D

Good luck Deano

Nige bit late to reply maybe clutch is out already!
If it was ok when you last stopped and you are still getting full slave cylinder travel, then i would try a stuck pressure plate as an option.
Check that you are getting full clutch travel before commencing
Jack car up put on axle stands , Stick it into second start her up and let it run.
get up to 30 mph and jump on the brakes whilst pushing clutch pedal. May need to try a couple of times
This has worked for several that i have came across over the years and its much easier than removing clutch.
PS they usually go with a bang!

Have fun

Hi thanks for the info i have had the clutch out what a job, and i found that the drive plate was stuck solid to the flywheel, gave it a good clean up as it wasn't worn and replaced it,its now working fine :)

Sorry post wasn't sooner and you may have fixed it in ten minutes rather than taking the clutch out.
It's always worked for me in the past and i've had a few stuck clutch plates come in.
Hope you didn't find it too hard to get the clutch out as they can be a pig some times.
Cheers Herman

Its not a job that i would want to do to often, but at least next time i have one bell housing bolt less to undo i just couldn't get it back in

Keep hold of it M8 one day you will find it easy to fit like Deano and I did when we rolled the elf over on the frame the two botom bolts were a doddle!:)
