Does any one know any other way to tell the difference between 1275 & 998 other than engine number and push rod breathers without internal inspection:eek: I seem to think there is somthing else but cant remember

If the head is fitted Dean you should be able to identify by gap between thermostat housing and rocker cover. 998 has next to no gap & 1275 you can get even my fat finger between the two.:)

Yeah Mate Think Its The Core Plugs On The Side Of Th Motor I Think?
One On A Thou And 2 On A 1275
Take A Look At The Lefthand Side Of Your Thou Then Look At The Opens Block Side

998s have a bypass hose between the head and the water pump and typically 1.3s are red?!!

I have an early 1380 in the garage with a bypass hose but not seen many others
The crank pulleys are different on the 1275 they have a much bigger balancing pulley:)
