The club was set up in march of this year after intensive research on the internet and after asking several mini organisations and clubs etc about the name. As you can imagine, my horror to find out that you are already up and running. we will need to come to some arrangement obviously. Do you have copyright on the name? if so we will need to see the copyright document and upon this we will happily change our name slightly.

The following is the email reply from anorak. I hope everyone in the club agrees with what this gentleman's sugestion.

dear fellow addict.

well I'm pleased that you chose to reply.
We have not copyrighted the name and didn't really see the need to, after all, we don't own it and you have as much right to use it as we do.
The only thing that did concern me was the possibility of people mistaking us (and our opinions) for each other.
you probably didn't find us because we are a very small local group with closed membership, due to problems we encountered when we were all part of another mini club.
I actually did a very comprehensive search for mini addicts and came up with a blank as well.
we do hope to hold club stands at shows in the midlands area and this may be where problems could arise.
however these possible problems are not really a major issue and any confused people can be soon corrected.
As a token of good will, after all we are all interested in the same car, I would be happy to change the club logo to read "Rugby Mini Addicts".
The new logo would appear on the web site and on show signs, however we have already had stickers printed so I cannot change these at the moment.

I hope this would be satisfactory to you.

thank you for accepting my offer to adjust our name slightly.
we really are a very small group and our site is only really there as a way for us to communicate with each other.
As it seems you are going for the "full Monty" style of club, you must already have enough to do and to expect you to have to change all your related paperwork would be unreasonable. We don't want to cause you any added problems.
it is likely that we will not even advertise as a full blown club and as I said before, the only problem I can foresee is at shows.

I have been scanning your site and you seem to be on the ball. I wish you the best of luck and I hope it all goes smoothly.

please be careful of the pitfalls of a large club.

I will change things around over the next few days.

i think your missing the point mate.

Mini Addicts is the name of the clubs, not the websites.

I offered to change my clubs name as a good will gesture, so don't get shirty about it.

I am about to buy a classic mini with an auto box...how easy is it to convert to a manual??? any help would be appreciated...i am a new member..

Hello and welcome Zinardi. I have an auto mini, its not bad around town but painfull on the motorway etc so can understand why you want to change it. Its not a massive problem :confused: you need engine gearbox and front subframe as they are all different. As far as im aware original engine cant be converted so its a case of finding another mini and changing front subframe with engine and gearbox from a manual to the auto.
you will also need clutch pedal slave master cylinder etc so its quite alot of work:eek: let me know how you get on. c

When you spot a mini you can write were and when you seen it colour model ect and partial reg plate :)
then people can check it and be chuffed some one noticed there mini
